CHECK OUT THIS TESTIMONY FROM MEMBER LARRY WELLS (from the 2008 Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, AL): "I wanted to share with you that the number of people who commented on the Christian Runners singlet was almost overwhelming. Somewhere around the 22 mile mark of the Rocket city Marathon some guys came by and asked several questions. The next thing I know we're having testimony time just praising God for all his blessings. Just by wearing a shirt. This is the reason I joined Christian Runners." Larry G. Wells
We will meet this Saturday, May 22, in the Brownell Travel parking lot at 6:00am.
Note: Some folks have expressed concerns about joining us for fear of not being fast enough and not knowing anyone. Don't worry, our runs are FREE and open to all skill levels. Typically, our runs include two groups: 4-6 milers and longer runs for those who are in training for up to full/half marathons (several of us are training for fall marathons). We're serious and not so serious runners -- someone is bound to match your pace.
Christian Runners is FREE -- there are no memberships fees or fundraising requirements.
Once you're plugged in, you'll wonder why it took you so long to come out and join us!
Have a great week and peace in Him. Scott
PRAYER REQUEST: Wendy Davis asked that we continue to pray for her mom, Nancy, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Please pray that God will comfort the family during this difficult time, give wisdom to the doctors, and, if it be His will, give Nancy a full recovery.
EVENT NOTICE: From ChristianRunners Co-Founder Richard Hopkins:
At CR headquarters very excited about an event coming up this June called the Down Hill at Dawn Half-Marathon (the entire race is downhill and, yes, starts at dawn). The race takes place at the Lifeway Ridgecrest Conference Center in beautiful Ridgecrest, NC the weekend of June 4-6.
There are two very critical key points about this race that makes is so special:
1. It's not just a race, but also a retreat! We want to gather members and spend time in idea exchange and do everything we can to help you make your chapters a success.
Truth is (and we experienced it here, when we first started), it's not always easy to get runners to show up at your runs. We want to work together on ways ways to help your chapter build momentum.
2. It's the first attempted retreat by CR in conjunction with a major sponsor...Lifeway. The possibilities with this event are off the charts! In time, with this first year as a launch pad, it certainly has the potential to be a yearly event that no one will want to miss!
The facilities and scenery are incredible! Even better, we have an incredible deal provided by Lifeway for lodging and meals. The have given us the large conference rooms and meeting facilities for free!
There is one big key to all of it.We need folks to show up! We are really hoping that you will prayerfully consider joining us. Kelli Sliwinski is the chair for this event. She can answer any questions that you might have (kellis@christianrunners.org).
Finally, just want to say that even if you can't make it, please, please pray that many will attend! A final point about this event that makes it so special, it's open to any and all. Not just CR folks! Talk about an opportunity to share about our groups and the love the of Christ!

3/31 - ING Georgia Half-Marathon: A quick note on the ING Georgia Half-Marathon from this past Sunday. Wet and chilly conditions, tough hills, and strong head winds (per race director, gusts were up to 20 mph) made for one challenging race...this was evident in Joseph Chirlee's slower-than-usual winning time of 1:06:42 (he's a consistent 1:03 half-marathoner). There were more than 8,100 finishers in the half-marathon, which was up from last year, so the race is definitely growing in popularity. Weather notwithstanding, the folks in Atlanta put on a nice race.
